A Sense of Sunday - Cubbon Park, Bangalore at Noon ...

Done to death? Nope, not really .

Because CJ our spaniel (creature of habit , this one ) has to have her ball chase at Cubbon Park on Sunday , the trip home after grocery shopping is almost always followed by a stopover to Cubbon Park on the way home . ( I can distinctly hear a 'ooh , how infra dig ' from some !)

Her excited barks as we near Cubbon Park in the car , have close to broken my eardrums many a time. And we park , get the newspapers out , and trudge with CJ straining at her leash, across the trees to find a shady spot . The long brick path on the right is what CJ uses as her private runway , while we sit on the bench .

Sitting on a stone bench in the Gazebo in the brilliant sunlight today , was marvelous as always, not withstanding a deep and resonant barkathon from CJ . The sheer undulation of dappled green lawn, the gulmohar and jacaranda trees in full bloom , a delightedly panting dog by your side completely in her element , and the families and kids on a picnic - such a Sense of Sunday.

Strongly recommended Sunday Spot.
But find the right one .

Does CJ get to run off leash when she's in the park?

Terri: CJ is full "pukkal"...she will not stray 20 ft from her mummy...

Priya I am amazed at the quiet and peace in this picture.. I always imagined that Cubbon park would be crowded..

Yes its quite lovely. You have to find the quiet spots though. The sheer noise that CJ makes is good enough to drive away the Sunday snoozers I am afraid .

Come with us one Sunday after Kadambam breakfast .

What is "pukkal?" Kannada gothilva.
But that breakfast sure sounds good :)

Terri: Pukkal = Scared One...
Priya.. I am amazed that Raja has all this patience to take you to park and all... poor guy...

BTW is this with the "extended family" in tow?

Terri: On the breakfast front (hopefully Priya will blog the details), it consists of going to a place called Kadambam which serves genuine Iyengar food and tasting everything they have to offer...
